Graduate Hills and Gardens Parking Policy
Situation Analysis:
The University of Maryland is a sub epicenter of the greater District of Columbia metropolis. Similar to most large cities and due to constraints of the physical asset; Graduate Hills and Gardens can only offer a limited amount of parking. Currently, there are 618 available parking spaces to accommodate 476 studio, one and two bedroom apartments. These figures equal an average of 1.3 parking spaces per apartment home.
Goal:
Graduate Hills and Gardens strive to create a win-win situation for both residents and management. The primary goal is to provide vehicle parking for all registered leaseholders. Guest parking is important, but is considered a secondary goal.
Policy:
- Vehicles are subject to tow 8pm - 6am daily.
- All vehicles must display a valid Graduate Hills/Gardens parking permit on the lower left hand corner (driver's side) of rear windshield. Hanging permits are to be displayed on vehicle rearview mirror.
- Vehicles displaying a "Resident Parking" permit may park in any Graduate Hills/Gardens resident or visitor parking zone (see attached map)
- Vehicles displaying a "Visitor Parking" permit may park in authorized visitor parking zones
ONLY. (see attached map)
- It is the responsibility of leaseholders to inform visitors of community parking policies.
- One "Resident Parking" and "Visitor Parking" permit is available to leaseholders of each apartment home.
- Additional "Resident Parking" permits are available to leaseholders for a cost of $50.
- Vehicles parked on grass/lawns/sidewalks/curbs, in fire lanes, double-parked, or blocking dumpsters and other vehicles are subject to tow at owner's expense.
- Vehicles that appear inoperable/severely damaged/abandon are subject to tow after 24-hour notice at owner's expense.
- Residents, Visitors, Vendors, and Southern Management Corporation personnel are responsible for abiding by community parking policies and guidelines.
- Vehicles will be towed at owners expense for a cost of $150.00
- The drop fee is $50.00.
- Replacement of lost or stolen permits will cost $50.00.
- Lost or stolen parking pass will be reported to K&D towing. Vehicles displaying lost or stolen permits will be towed at owner's expense.
- Moving trucks are permitted on premises for 24 hours without towing enforcement
- Resident corporate and work vehicles are not given special allowance
To Obtain a Valid Permanent Parking Decal:
- Leaseholders must provide a valid:
- Vehicle Registration (registered to leaseholder)
- Insurance Policy (listing leaseholder as valid operator)
- Drivers License
